We Are Hiring a Farm Manager

The Rio Grande Farm Park (Formerly the Rio Grande Healthy Living Park) is seeking a dynamic, self-starter to add to its team!  The Farm Manager is a seasonal position which will report to the Park Director and is responsible for all facets pertaining to the physical use of the land, including creation and implementation of the farmer incubator program (among other farming tasks), a safety program which includes not only equipment but volunteer and public safety, and as the ambassador to the Park, shall possess the ability to work independently and with a variety of individuals including volunteers and city and county officials.  For more information, please contact Julie Mordecai, Park Director at:  riograndeHLP@gmail.com or call 719/580-0379.  Resumes can be mailed to: P.O. Job Description
Title:  Farm Manager, Rio Grande Farm Park (RGFP)
Reporting to:  RGFP Director
Classification:  Seasonal, part-time
Description:  This dynamic self-starter will be responsible for working independently and with a wide variety of constituents in promoting, coordinating and overseeing physical work at the Park in alignment with the values, mission and vision of the Local Foods Coalition.    Reports to, coordinates and collaborates with land and water use authorities including city and county officials as well as private landowners in addition to the RGFP Agriculture Action Group.  Creates and maintains budgets and will create and implement the garden/farm plot program.  This position is also responsible for developing plans for invasive plant control and containment, coordinating volunteer projects, developing and implementing a safety plan for land use that includes maintaining farm implements and heavy machinery.  The Farm manager will be the on-site ambassador to the Park in creating a welcoming, safe environment for visitors and community members.
Qualifications:  Prior experience in sustainable agricultural land management (or natural resource management with sustainability as a guiding principle).  Familiarity to operate and maintain farm equipment and heavy machinery in a safe and cautious manner.  This position requires clear verbal and written communication skills through computer applications and in person (Spanish speaking a plus); effective time-management; ability to create and adhere to budgets, as well as coordinate volunteer programs.
Physical demands:  Capacity to perform repeated lifting of loads weighing up to 60 lbs over irregular terrain is required.
