We are excited to be partnering with the City of Alamosa, Rio Grande Watershed Conservation and Education Initiative, and Colorado State Forest Service to organize a volunteer tree planting day at the Alamosa Riparian Park on April 24 from 9:00am-12:00pm! As part of river restoration efforts, volunteers are needed to plant native trees, shrubs, and grasses that will help stabilize streambanks, provide habitat for wildlife, and improve the natural beauty of the river and public open space. Sign up and learn more: https://forms.gle/ESApEfhBKhdkRM6v9.

Special thanks to San Luis Valley Health, American Forests, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and Colorado Water Conservation Board for providing funding to help make this exciting restoration project and volunteer event possible!

Brian Ross has been gardening and farming in challenging environments for over 20 years. He learned the needs of various plants and their amazing resilience while installing edible landscapes in Phoenix Arizona. His seed saving grew into an obsession as he observed which plants survived and even thrived and recognized that seeds from these plants were often improved and better adapted. He brought his seeds and knowledge to the San Luis Valley where he ran the garden at Everson Ranch. New challenges were rewarded with an amazing harvest and many lessons from Mother Nature. He now continues his plant adventures in Bend, Oregon. Brian is excited to share his seed saving knowledge and experiences and to learn from yours. ... See MoreSee Less
