Using regenerative agricultural practices, us farmers can have an impact on our climate and our water.Did you know that transpiration generates up to 40% of our rainfall and is the main source/creator of regional clouds and rain that often falls near the same place it came from?

Just as you release water vapor when you breathe, plants do, too – although the term "transpire" is more appropriate than "breathe."

This is the small water cycle.

So what can farmers do to shift from harmful industrialized practices AND create more opportunity for transpiration (and other natural ecological function)?

- Keep the ground covered with living plants like native perennials and grasses, trees, and flowers
- Plow/till less or not at all
- Utilize planned rotational animal grazing
- Use no synthetic inputs like herbicides, insecticides, and other additives to increase natural microbial diversity

Together, we can regenerate the small water cycle.
