This year, amidst COVID-19, the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition is hosting a never-before-seen, once in a lifetime experience–a drive-through and/or walk-through harvest celebration at the Rio Grande Farm Park! We are so excited about this unique event to honor our growers and the bountiful harvest. The Farm Stand at the Rio Grande Farm Park and a few local food trucks will be open for business, farmers will be present to share their wisdom, and local musicians will play. Each participating vehicle will have the chance to interact with ten booths, where organizations may put on short demonstrations, give samples, sell goods, and share agricultural wisdom. Thanks to our participating sponsors, we are thankful to be in a position to host this event without charging an entrance fee.
If folks are hesitant to come to the in-person event, they can view the live-streamed event on Facebook from the comfort of their home. Alternatively, members of the community can purchase a mixed box of goods from all of the vendors at the information booth without participating in the 60-minute drive-through experience. Anyone is welcome to come and purchase a to-go meal from a local food truck and enjoy the live music throughout the event, but masks and social-distancing will be enforced. In between drive-through rounds, there will be an opportunity for people to walk-up and interact with the vendor booths Farmer’s Market-style. However, we want to encourage participation in the drive-thru experience as it is the unique highlight of our event this year.
- Food preparation must follow CO Health Foundation’s Guidelines.
- Attendees must maintain 6 ft of space from booths and wear masks.
- Attendees must maintain 6 ft of space between each other, except when in the same vehicle.
- Washing hands or using hand sanitizer before eating a meal or sample is recommended.
- Anyone who is disrespecting the safety of others by encroaching on personal space will be asked to leave.
